Guest Châteaux of Normandy

By Diane Ohanian au Château

Fall Asleep in a Normandy Château

Shakespeare wrote, “To sleep, perchance to dream”, in his play ‘Hamlet’, but he was certainly not writing of dreaming about a French château and realizing your dream to fall asleep in one!   So, let’s change that to “To dream, perchance to sleep”, and show you how to make it come true!

Over the next months we will be bringing French châteaux to you…wonderful historic places located in easy-to-reach Normandy, whether you are coming across La Manche or arriving by train or car from nearby Paris.  Normandy is rich with châteaux and elegant manoirs offering travelers the lodging experience of a lifetime.

Manoir de Berthouville

Sumptuous suites with lavish modern en suite bathrooms, fantastic gardens for wandering to your heart’s content, and nearby historic sites to take in while a guest at a secluded country estate ~ all are yours for the asking.

If you think such accommodations are beyond your reach or your budget, you are mistaken.  The au Château web site lists nearly 80 sophisticated and enchanting properties that are ideal getaways, ten of which are in Normandy, and they are priced to fit any budget.

For those who would prefer to rent an entire château by the week, that, too, is possible.  We would love to entice you to stay at Manoir de Berthouville in the tranquil and convenient Eure département, a short drive from Paris, where you will find stylish and comfortable interiors by owner Charles Spada, a renowned Boston interior designer.  Or, perhaps, you are looking for a panoramic view of Le Mont Saint Michel out your bedroom window ~ a stay at Château les Hauts will satisfy that desire with its delightful bed and breakfast accommodations.  Then, of course, there are always those seeking romance.  What better place to find it than Château de l’Isle-Marie, chosen one of Travel and Leisure Magazine’s ‘50 Most Romantic Hideaways Worldwide’.
